When asked “why do you attend the PSPE Conference?” …

  • Update and renew knowledge on topics and get PDHs for my multi-state licenses.
  • Obtain current information on PE Legal and Ethical Issues
  • Attend the PSPE Board Meeting to understand what PSPE is actively doing to protect the PE.
  • Business Development opportunities with other professionals
  • Share professional experiences with friends

  • PSPE remains at the head of the pack in protecting our PE license; updates on license issues.
  • PSPE intervened when Continuing Education was originally passed and was responsible for making the requirements “reasonable”.
  • PSPE is an eclectic professional organization of different engineering disciplines that provides fresh perspectives
  • Quality presentations/PDHs for license renewal

~Dave Williams, PE  | Michael Baker International

  • Professional Development Hours – where else can an engineer pick up 12 PDH in just two days?  In addition the cost per PDH ($35-$50 per PDH) – plus lunch – is a real bargain.
  • Engineering Diversity – too often we get stuck in our specialty silos, in my case it was transportation. Same faces, same topics, same issues, same projects, etc. I have always felt that the conference (and NSPE) reminds us that there are indeed great engineering achievements happening everyday outside of our specific professions.  It is great to meet new people, see the engineering world from different perspectives, and learn about the opportunities and issues other engineering disciplines are experiencing.
  • New Perspectives/New Ideas – The engineering diversity I described above, is not only refreshing, but can stimulate new ideas that we may never have thought of that can be applied in our specific disciplines.

~Steve Wilson, PE | Retired
I attend conferences to talk with people in the same situations and have the same problems that I do, and see how they may have resolved those problems. I connect with people who are “just like me”. Knowing that I’m not in it alone restores my energy and commitment. I hear new ideas presented that are worth trying. The “nuggets” I get from people I talk with outside the session, and from the session speakers make the whole thing well a worthy investment.
