Harvest Moon Aquaponics Facility and Masano Car Museum

Learning Objectives:

1. To learn about the science of aquaponics from fish health to plant growth.
2. To learn about various aquaponic system designs.
3. To learn about the challenges of an aquaponics facility operation.

An optional after-tour gathering will take place at the Liberty Tap Room on Lancaster Avenue in Shillington for continued dialog and opportunity for Q&A with those involved in the project and with fellow tour attendees. This after-tour gathering will be at the expense of each tour attendee.

Overview: This tour will be led by Mr. Jamie Kring, Director of Operations for the Harvest Moon Aquaponic Facility and former manager for the Masano Auto Park. Harvest Moon Aquaponics got its start when Masano’s daughter wanted to pursue a project for the Reading Berks Science and Engineering Fair in Aquaponics. Her project evolved into a fully functioning aquaponic facility with fish tanks in one room and a growing room next door, including pumps, filters, hydroponic beds, monitoring systems, and water testing. Following the tour of Harvest Moon, tour participants will have the opportunity to walk through the massive indoor auto storage facility and museum of high-end new, classic, and antique vehicles.
