My Definition of the Value Proposition

I found in my career that becoming a Professional Engineer, raised my value by another power. Don’t misunderstand me, we are not better people or engineers than our non-registered colleges, but we have more value in the market because of the additional time and effort we invested into becoming a PE.

Deck Failures

With 40 million decks in the United States that are more than 20 years old, it’s important for homeowners to check their deck, preferably with the assistance of a qualified engineer, builder, or home inspector. Like all structures, decks need to be maintained and should be inspected on a regular basis, and after a heavy snow load and before an event that will result in a large number of occupants.

The Real Power of Solar

…interesting how the interviewer, an executive for a multinational contractor, held my solar experience with such obvious disdain. During my short career in PV I had heard nothing but enthusiastic inquiries – “How much can I fit on my house?” “Does it really work?!” “Can I stop paying PECO?!!” Yet now, post-interview, I was questioning my past. Was solar for real, or was it just a bunch of opportunistic hackers? It took some serious thought to stifle my anxiety, but I ultimately concluded that solar, like many forms of alternative energy, has not only a place in society but a purpose.
