The 2014 annual meeting of NSPE was held July 1-6 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Washington DC. Members from all over the country, including such faraway places as Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska were present. Also present were representatives from allied societies in Japan, Korea, and Canada.
In addition to the work of the House of Delegates, seminars for leadership training and continuing education were also held. The House of Delegates approved the strategic plan to move us forward on the Road to Relevance. Those attendees who like loud noises in a socially acceptable forum walked over to the mall for the Fourth of July fireworks.
Highlights for the Pennsylvania delegation, admirably led by our House of Delegates representative David McCullough, PE, FNSPE, include the awards luncheon where our own Barry Isett, PE, FNSPE was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. President Sprague and President-elect Tappert joined Barry and his wife Shirley for a celebration dinner Thursday evening.
The other Pennsylvania highlight was the installation of our own Harvey Hnatuik, PE, FNSPE as the new NSPE President. In his remarks Harve recognized the Pennsylvania delegation, which included Dave McCullough, Walt Poplawski, Susan and Kevin Sprague, Frank and Ann Marie Stanton, and Eric Tappert. All in all, a good time was enjoyed by everyone.
