PSPE Webinar | Battery Storage Peak-Demand: Savings, Safety, & Sustainability
August 4, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Battery Storage Peak-Demand: Savings, Safety, & Sustainability
Description | We will start by briefly reviewing the history of the US Power Grid and the progression to the current focus on renewable energy, with the addition of battery storage related to greenhouse gas emissions, and power grid resiliency.
One key factor for the customer-side energy storage systems is the utility cost savings, primarily via Peak-Demand Savings, resulting from the consideration of battery storage.
We will investigate two rate structures (Con Edison and PSE&G) and work through the process of developing the potential cost savings for various battery storage systems related to Peak-Demand Savings. Actual end-user utility 15-minute increment usage data will be used in the modeling of an actual case study.
In addition, we will review the NFPA 855 Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems (2020 Edition) regarding safety-related issues for battery installations.
Objectives | At the end of this webinar, attendees will have an understanding of:
- Evolving Factors with our current Electric Utility Grid.
- Battery Storage System Peak Demand Savings.
- Energy Storage Systems NFPA-855 Safety Considerations.
