SUMMARY:PSPE Webinar | Ultra-Lightweight Foamed Glass Aggregate
DESCRIPTION:Join PSPE for their first webinar of 2021! \nUltra-Lightweight Foamed Glass Aggregate: Applications and Case Studies \nUltra-Lightweight Foamed Glass Aggregate (UL-FGA) is a lightweight fill alternative (<15 pcf dry\, bulk density) that is made from 100% recycled glass. UL-FGA is a safe and versatile material that can be used for load reduction over soft soils\, structures\, and utilities or as an insulation material. One half of this presentation will focus on application areas for UL-FGA and case studies related to State DOT projects\, resiliency work\, piers\, parks\, and building construction. The other half of this presentation will cover the engineering properties that should be considered when designing with foamed glass aggregate and how the product is manufactured. \nSchedule \n\n11:30-12:00 | Networking\n12:00 – 1:00 | Webinar Presentation\n1:00-1:30 | Q&A with Theresa\n\nAbout the Presenter | Theresa Loux\, PhD\, PE \nTheresa Loux is the Technical Director for Aero Aggregates of North America where her primary responsibilities include overseeing Aero’s research and development activities\, technical documentation\, engineering support\, quality control program\, and education and outreach efforts. Theresa brings to Aero over ten years of combined industry and academic experience. In the past\, she has been involved in and managed a variety of civil\, geotechnical\, and geoenvironmental consulting and construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic United States. SUMMARY:Senate to vote on HB2101
DESCRIPTION:HB 2101 makes a number of important changes to the licensing law for engineers\, land surveyors and geologists. While the major part of the bill makes a necessary clarification between land surveying and Geographic Information System (GIS) activities\, it ALSO rectifies concerns for engineers caused by a 2016 court decision. \nThe court decision could be interpreted to limit the practice of engineering to only projects that involve a “design”. In other words\, structural inspections\, environmental assessments\, and many other activities that have long been considered the practice of engineering in the other 49 states would not be considered the practice of engineering in Pennsylvania. \nContact your state Senator today!
